This Saturday, Primetime traveled to Lynchburg, VA to cover Liberty's week 12 matchup against the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns. The contest resulted in a 28-point win for Louisiana, as the Cajuns defeated the Flames 42-14. However, it is our belief that there's more to a game than its final score. Therefore, here are our takeaways from Liberty vs Louisiana:
First off, it's safe to say that this wasn't a good game for Liberty QB Malik Willis. The main reason for this was Willis' delayed decision making. Throughout that game, Willis was able to make the first defender in the pocket miss, but would then continue to look downfield at covered targets and hesitate to scramble. This resulted in Willis being sacked 7 times and throwing 2 interceptions vs the Rajin' Cajuns.
For Louisiana, the first thing that needs to be said about the Rajin' Cajuns' performance was their ability to play together very well. They played an overall very sound football game, as every player on their side of the ball worked together to create an outstanding finished product.
While he only received 4 carries vs Louisiana, it's easy to see the potential that Liberty RB T.J. Green has. Green showed his capability to be a playmaker vs the Rajin' Cajuns, having a 43-yard running play and more.
The player that stood out the most for Louisiana was LB Chauncey Manac. Manac put on a clinic, shedding blocks and more in order to get 4 sacks vs the Flames. This was definitely a performance for the books by Manac.
For many schools currently looking to fill their vacant head coaching jobs, they couldn't have asked for a better coaching performance by Louisiana HC Billy Napier. The Rajin' Cajuns' sound, disciplined performance will be kept in the minds of many ADs as the continue to look for their program's future head coach.
